In this supportive workshop, you'll learn how to use the latest findings on motivation, habits and productivity to jumpstart and maintain your writing practice. Presented by Shannon Finch.

The hardest part about writing is, well, writing! If you don't write because you're paralyzed by procrastination and perfectionism, overwhelmed by what you need to accomplish every day, or you're just too scared to start, you need a writing practice. In this supportive workshop, you'll learn how to use the latest findings on motivation, habits and productivity to jumpstart and maintain your practice. You'll gain insights about why you want to write, your goals, and your work style. You'll also learn how to trick your brain into helping you instead of hindering you. You'll leave with many techniques and resources to help you get the words out of your head and onto the page. There will never be a better time to write, "someday" is now!

Attendees will be able to:
*Identify their personal obstacles to writing
*Develop strategies to overcome those obstacles
*Name 3 techniques to increase productivity
*Define SMART goals and stretch goals
*Define the phrase "internal locus of control" and identify how they can use the concept in developing their practice
*Explain the role of the brain's prefrontal cortex and limbic system in procrastination
*Name the six triggers for procrastination
*Name three things that will help a habit stick
