Discover how our favorite superheroes, including Wonder Woman and Black Panther, were shaped by key events in history, and in turn they shaped our nation. For teens and adults.

Journalist and comics-studies educator T. Andrew Wahl will lead an interactive presentation exploring how four-color heroes aren’t merely confined to paper—they shape the world we live in.

Experience key events in history through our favorite characters, including Wonder Woman, Black Panther, Superman and Captain America. Join us and explore how social movements, business concerns, changing demographics and other issues in society have shaped the reality we see in the pages of our favorite comics.

Discover how pop-culture was shaped and in turn how superheroes shaped our nation. Wahl's multimedia presentation will span the dawn of comics in the 1930s to the superheroes on the big screen.

Funding provided by the Humanities Washington’s Speakers Bureau and the Friends of the Marysville Library.

For adults and teens, aged 12 and up. Snacks will be served. For additional information on this presentation, contact librarians Mark Barnett or Marta Murvosh
