Writing is a solitary job, but publishing is not. This course will give you techniques for reader engagement that are painless, productive, and adaptable to your author brand.

There comes a time when you have to put your book -- and yourself -- in front of readers. This workshop is the result of ten years’ experience as a bookseller, where the idea of handselling (the right book for the right reader) remains vital. Whether you’re pitching to editors and agents, signing books at a book fair, or interacting with fans on social media, this course will give you tools and techniques for reader engagement that are painless, productive, and endlessly adaptable to your unique personality and author brand.

Olivia Waite spent ten years in independent bookstores across Washington State before becoming a published author of historical romance and fantasy. Her training in handselling has proven invaluable for author signings, book events, and pitching to editors and agents. Her workshops for Power of the Pen, the Emerald City Writers' Conference, and the Greater Seattle RWA (where this workshop premiered) have been well-attended and highly rated.
