In spring 2017, Welles joined the Center for Women and Democracy’s International Delegation to Israel and Palestine. The Delegation was guided by experts in the ongoing history of the conflict in the Holy Land and the societies it has spawned; a conflict with roots in the 19th century European Jewish awakening, 20th century Arab nationalism, and more recent religious revivals in the Middle East. Join us as he shares highlights from his journey, including visits with female leaders, exploring the challenges of being a woman in Palestine and Israel, and visits to sites of historical, religious, and archaeological importance.
