The greatest cause for failure of a new business is the lack of startup capital to cover cash needs through the growing period. This workshop will cover the various methods of business financing that are available. The program will include information on the requirements and the preparation to apply for a bank loan. Understanding the bank lending process is critical to securing loan approval.

Vance Titus is a certified SCORE Business Mentor. Organized over fifty years ago by the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their owner’s goals. SCORE’s mentoring services are available to prospective and active business owners at no charge. Vance is a mentor in the Sno-Isle Branch of the Greater Seattle Chapter of SCORE. In addition to one-on-one mentoring, the Seattle.SCORE.org website offers numerous free business subject webinars available 24/7, and the Greater Seattle SCORE Chapter provides a broad selection of inexpensive business workshops.

Vance is a registered professional architect and professional engineer. He holds industry certification as a professional management consultant. Vance earned a Bachelor of Architecture and B.S. in Forest Management from Washington State University and an MBA from Tulane University. Vance has been a member of the field construction, project management, marketing and sales, and executive management teams of small, mid-sized, and very large companies in the engineering-construction industry. He has participated in the design and construction of building projects in various locations in the U.S. and more than twenty-five countries around the world. In Snohomish County, Vance has worked with youth, dislocated workers, and veterans workforce development programs. He taught Managerial Marketing at Henry Cogswell College in Everett. Through SCORE he is a member of the instructional team for Boots2Business, an introduction to small business program for military personnel at Naval Station Everett. Vance is a published business writer and a combat decorated Vietnam Veteran.
